Apps that can digitize Romania's cities will be born at Challenge Accepted SmartHack
Smart digital solutions for smart, sustainable and safe cities will be developed at the Challenge Accepted SmartHack hackathon, over 3 days, between June 17 and 19, 2022. Under the motto "we're preparing the digital world," we're opening registrations for the 8th edition of the coding marathon we organize year after year, to find tech solutions to real problems people face in everyday life.
In the first stage, any public institution (city hall, hospital, school, etc.), insurance company or NGO can submit on the event's website the real problems society or the environment is facing that could be solved through digital solutions.
A technical committee made up of experts in IT & Software will review the submissions received, based on the Challenge Accepted Rules, where criteria such as feasibility and impact on society are eliminatory. Projects that can become, in 48 hours of continuous coding, application prototypes will be admitted to the competition and will become "challenges" for the IT enthusiasts taking part in the online hackathon in June 2022.
A smart country will be built by cross-disciplinary teams made up of specialists in programming, testing, business analysis or other IT areas, who want to change things for the better in Romania, are willing to fully dedicate themselves to this mission for 3 days (Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between June 17 and 19), and who can now register on the event's website.
See you at Challenge Accepted SmartHack – online hackathon, Romania 2022!
As every year, we also invite IT seniors to get involved to truly change things in the country, as mentors for the cross-disciplinary teams taking part in the competition.
On challenge.scoalainformala.ro, calls are open both for public institutions (and others) that want to bring their current real needs into the competition, and for mentors and participants willing to pass on their experience to the community they live in.
Challenge Accepted Hackathon Romania is a long-standing Informal School of IT event, supported by mentors and the alumni community, who get involved year after year to change things for the better in Romania, putting their time and knowledge at the country's service. Last year, no fewer than 15 software application prototypes were created in 3 days, to cut red tape and digitize public institutions in our country.
Today, Romania ranks last in the European Union for digital competitiveness, according to the latest DESI report. But what if we produced the change ourselves, turning the place where we live into a smart society? Together, let's put the advantages of digital transformation to work for local communities.
